Most of the time Hoteliers get confused between Hotel Room Tariff and The Room Plan. Well, This ON POINT Article is a simple answer of the confusion between Tariff and Room Plan. We are about to guide you to the definitions of both of these terms, along with some more details about Room Plans!
First thing First, What is Room Tariff? So… The tariff is the rate or charges offered to the guest by the hotel for the use of different facilities and services, during their stay in the hotel. Commonly tariff is a charge of room rates and other facilities.
Whereas, Hotels generally sell their rooms with a combination of room and food, and that’s how they charge! and this combination is known as Room Plan or Meal Plan. To know a little more details about these, Hotels generally have the following meal plans…
- AP : American Plan which means the tariff you have paid includes Room Rent, Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. This Plan is also known as ‘Full Board Plan’.
- MAP : Modified American Plan which means the tariff you have pain includes Room Rent, Breakfast and either Lunch or Dinner. This Plan is also known as ‘Half Board Plan’.
- CP : Continental Plan which includes your Room Rent and Complimentary Breakfast. This plan is supposed to include a Continental Breakfast, but nowadays hotels use the term breakfast only!
- EP : European Plan which includes only the Room Rent and no meals.
- Bermuda Plan : This plan consists of Room Rent and an American Breakfast. This Plan is also known as B&B, mostly followed by the budget class hotels.
