What is a Loyalty Program?

A loyalty program is a way to reward your loyal customers in one way or other. As we all know, a loyal customer is more likely to buy your products or service compared to a new customer. Also, a loyal customer is the one that can bring you more customers through a marketing term known as word of mouth. So, many businesses focus on rewarding such loyal customers through various schemes. These schemes are known as Loyalty Programs.

The earliest known form of loyalty marketing dates back to 1793. But, the term is escalating in brands these days. A 2018 report from the US found that more than three-quarters (77%) of consumers had been loyal to specific brands for 10 or more years. Even the majority of millennials (60%) could say the same thing.


What are the Loyalty Programs that Hotels and Airlines offer to their guests?

A hotel loyalty program or hotel reward program is a loyalty program typically run by a hotel chain. It is a marketing strategy used by hotel chains to attract and retain business at their properties. 

While, airline loyalty programs, also called frequent-flyer programs (FFP), are offered by many passenger airlines to keep their customers loyal. In both cases, you first need to earn points by buying products or services and afterward redeem them for other services.

1. Marriott Bonvoy Loyalty Program

Marriott Bonvoy is a reward program of the Marriott group and is a combined program for the loyalty programs like Marriott Rewards, The Ritz-Carlton Rewards, and SPG. Earning elite status, redeeming your points for airline miles, etc., are a few benefits of this program.


2. Wyndham Rewards

The Wyndham Rewards program caters to leisure and business travelers who visit popular destinations in the United States, Europe, Mexico, Africa, the Caribbean, and Asia. As a Wyndham Rewards member, you will earn points when you stay in any of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. You can redeem points for hotel stays, vacation rentals, flights, tours and activities, gift cards, and retail purchases.


3. World of Hyatt Loyalty Program

The World of Hyatt guest loyalty program is part of Hyatt’s ongoing commitment to making guests feel more than welcome every time they stay. Members can enjoy exclusive benefits, such as earning five points per eligible dollar spent to redeem toward free nights with no blackout dates, room upgrades, and airline miles.


4. SkyMiles

SkyMiles is the frequent-flyer program of Delta Air Lines. It offers points (or miles) to passengers traveling on most fare types. Also, consumers who utilize Delta co-branded credit cards earn these points. Consumers can then redeem points for free awards such as airline tickets, business or first-class upgrades, and luxury products.


5. AAdvantage

AAdvantage is the frequent-flyer program of American Airlines. It offers points (or miles) to passengers traveling. Here consumers can redeem miles for tickets, upgrade service class, or obtain free or discounted car rentals, hotel stays, merchandise, or other products and services through partners.
